Expect the Unexpected

Today, I had to interview someone at UF for my Pricipals of PR class. I went into this interview thinking it would take about 30 mins and would just be very matter of fact. I was given 10 questions and all I had to do was ask my interviewee the questions, take some notes, and leave. Well... an hour and a half later I was leaving my interview... needless to say it was NOT what I expected. Some may say unfortunately, but in this case fortunately for me, my interviewee was very talkative, in a good way. This made me so excited and I found myself asking questions that were not assigned to me. Not only did I find so much out about this person I just met, but she helped me, a lot. It is kinda crazy actually, I just created this blog, yesterday and what happens today. This woman says "Start a blog", I was surprised. My next question to her, "what do I blog about?"

Well in the past year I have done a total 180 with my career plan. I was a junior (yes JUNIOR) in college and starting my first year in my graduate program of Occupational Therapy (many don't know what this is so lets just classify it as a health science major) I started classes and absolutely HATED them!! Once I discovered how unhappy I was I could not imagine making a career of this. Yes, I would/could have made good money, but is that worth hating your career over? NO! Anyways, I changed my major to Sport and Event Management which is... different... in the best way possible. From the first day of class I loved it, was much happier, and excited with where my life was headed. Honestly, I dont know exactly or even relatively where my life is headed, but I know I made the right choice this time.

So... expect the unexpected, and another great tip I got from my interview "Don't be afraid to put yourself out there!"

Whats next to come? ...Homework.

  1. I think that your change of major was exactly what you needed! Sport and event management just seems to fit your life better. It sounds kind of weir but that major just looks better on you! You seem happier and excited about the future! I feel like its always worth a little set back if a change in major is going to change your life for the better :)
